WHO CAN ENTER:

The Magnolia Lodge No. 2 scholarship program is open to students graduating in 2023, and who are enrolled at St. James High School.

HOW TO ENTER:

The deadline for submissions for the 2022-2023 essay contest is May 5, 2023.  

The theme for 2022-2023 is: “What Does Serving Others Mean to Me”

Next, it is time to start drafting considering the 2022-2023 theme, “What Does Serving Others Mean to Me” Essays must be no less than 200 words and cannot exceed 300 words and should be submitted to designated High School personnel, along with the completed the Official Student Essay Competition Entry Form no later than the May 5, 2023 deadline.

JUDGING CRITERIA:

Knowledge of the theme is worth 30 points: You must show a thorough knowledge of the theme in your work.  Demonstrate you have researched the issue extensively.

Theme development is worth 35 points: Answer all relevant facts about the theme such as the who, what, where, when, and why. Relate the theme to your own experiences.

Clarity of ideas is worth 35 points: Write your essay in an easy-to-understand format.  Leave your reader with a clear understanding of your explanation of the theme.
